Intraoral scanners, such as TRIOS®, are used in digital dentistry for rapid image-taking of the patient’s mouth. The images, called digital impressions, are then imported into the CAD/CAM software to design and manufacture dental restorations, such as dentures, crowns, veneers and dental implants. The digital impressions are also useful to plan orthodontic treatments and create orthodontic appliances. Digital workflows speed up the flow of patient appointments and save production time, in addition to enhancing nearly all diagnostic, restorative and surgical procedures. Dental procedures that used to take weeks can now be accomplished in a single appointment. This course will explain the basics of the digital-dentistry workflow from planning to milling a crown, veneer or implant supported crown in the dental office. The participants will create their own digital impressions and perform basic digital planning procedures. At the end, their restorations will be milled.
